Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey: From the Ace Attorney series. Phoenix, or "Nick" to his friends, is a fresh-blood defense attorney who, though some consider him the best, doesn't know what he's doing half the time. He is good-natured and has a natural desire to defend the innocent, stemming from an inspirational childhood experience in the 4th grade. However, he tends to make large leaps in logic and comes up with solutions to cases by thinking outside the box and looking at situations from various angles. His partner, Maya Fey, is the younger sister of Phoenix's chief, Mia, who was murdered very early in his career. After Phoenix acquitted Maya of a murder charge and found out the true culprit, Maya and Phoenix founded Wright and Co. Law Office, and together they take on crimes that normal defense attorneys wouldn't begin to go near. Maya, much to Phoenix's chagrin, has boundless energy and an insatiable appetite, and Phoenix is often the straight-man to her wacky antics. Maya also happens to be a spirit medium: she has the power to communicate with the dead, particularly her sister Mia, via the Kurain Channeling Technique. She will sometimes summon Mia to help Phoenix out in a tight spot. Together, they make an odd duo, though they manage to get the job done.

Flandre Scarlet: From Embodiment of Scarlet Devil. 495 year old vampire who spent most of her time locked up in the basement of her mansion, due to her ability: the destruction of anything she wishes. Simply clenching her hand into a fist is all it takes to destroy whatever object she focuses her wrath upon. Appears to be a nine-year-old girl, and behaves like one. Though she is generally docile, she has wicked temper tantrums and she lets her emotions get the best of her. Doesn't see humans as anything more than a drink, and isn't afraid to flaunt around her power, though most of her destruction is caused by accident.
"Tonight, in this very town, something is going down. But I'm not about to let anyone die. I'll save you again and again, as many times as it takes."
Sissel: From Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. A ghost who lost his memory upon being murdered and is now gifted with various "powers of the dead". He can manipulate various inanimate objects, travel across phone lines to reach new locations, and, upon finding a corpse, he can go back in time to 4 minutes before a person's death and try to avert their fates, manipulating objects in the area to try and prevent the person from dying. He wishes to find the truth upon what happened on the night he was murdered: who murdered him and why. However, he will gladly lend a helping hand to anyone who needs him along the way, although he'll come with his fair share of snide remarks. He's not beyond using his ghost tricks for mischievous purposes, either. As long as he has them, he might as well have some fun, right?
"Observers are always allowed to speak their personal opinions! Otherwise, mysteries where the culprit is seen dressed up as a woman and it's written 'I saw a woman' would all be disqualified!! Sure, that's fine, claim that you saw magic all you want!! All truths are nothing more than claims! So, I'll make a claim separate from yours and smash right through yours!! That is the detective's duty, and the time we shine the most!!"
Erika Furudo: From Umineko no Naku Koro Ni: Chiru. A detective who takes immense pleasure in solving mysteries and brain-teasers. She, at the surface, is a polite and dignified young lady who has an immense fondness for anything that requires mental stimulation: in reality, she is a cold, heartless woman who will stop at nothing to prove her intellectual superiority. She solves riddles for the sole purpose of boasting to their creators and seeing the agonizing look on their faces when their riddles are solved: that is the sole feeling and pleasure that Erika lives for, as a detective. She washed up on the shore of Rokkenjima and, using the "Detective's Authority", was able to inspect the crime scenes and come up with a solution to the murder mystery that didn't involve the use of any fantasy elements. She is, in actuality, the "piece" of the great Bernkastel, the Witch of Miracles, who was placed on the game board of Rokkenjima to solve the murders from a "mystery" perspective. Erika is a self-proclaimed "intellectual rapist" and takes intense pride in her intelligence, and will get incredibly frustrated when things don't go her way or she is contradicted. Also, she has the ability to use the Red Truth and the Blue Truth. She can use the Red Truth to make statements that are the absolute truth and don't need evidence to back up: a statement in red cannot be contradicted by any means, though there can be loopholes in the red with missing words and such. The Blue Truth is used to present theories and speculation: it is based on fact and can only be disproven with evidence that contradicts it or a Red Truth.
"I'm not going to ask you about the past...it doesn't matter. But, if you ever cheat on me...I'll be angry."
Catherine: From Catherine. A young, energetic, and drop-dead gorgeous 20-something year old girl. In the story of "Catherine", she suddenly appears in Vincent's life at a moment where he is unsure of whether or not he is ready to commit to his girlfriend Katherine, and immediately throws his relationship in jeopardy when he wakes up the next morning sleeping next to her. She is the definition of free-spirited and has a seductive and coquettish air about her: she views long-term relationships as horrendously drab and binding and expresses great desire against being "tied down". She seeks excitement in her life above all else, and she lives life as her emotions see fit: her mood can change from incredibly excited to downright furious in a split second, to the point where she is almost manic. In actuality, she is a succubus who takes joy in leading men's lives astray; whether or not she actually even engages in intercourse with the men she seduces is a topic up for debate. She can appear before men as their exact preference in terms of body type, and is a very good actress, going to any length to seduce men and lead their lives astray, merely "on a whim". Freedom defines Catherine and her life, and she takes pleasure in what she does, though she does actually grow to have feelings for Vincent, spending much more time with him than she did with her other victims and actually growing fond of his company.
"Time to let nature take its course!"
Viridi: From Kid Icarus: Uprising. She's the Goddess of Nature who commands her own personal divine army of creatures called the Forces of Nature. She takes the appearance of a young girl, though in reality she has the mindset of an adult, albeit one with a very short temper. She has a serious grudge against all humans and has absolutely no mercy for them, or anyone who threatens to throw nature out of balance. To deal with this threat, she has a depot of Reset Bombs at her disposal, which, when detonated, wipe out everything in their (rather large) blast radius, and create a "forest" in its place. However, despite this, she's not a bad person at heart, and she's more than willing to fight for what she believes in and help out anyone she considers her ally in a heartbeat. A classic "jerkass with a heart of gold", she helps Pit in his time of need in Palutena's absence, and fights with him to the bitter end to stop the humans and their war.
"Let's go, Samson!" "Hell yeah!"
Filia and Samson: From Skullgirls. Another of my two-for-one characters, Filia was once a normal schoolgirl, until she woke up one morning with a second mouth on the back of her head and no memories. This second mouth would turn out to be Samson, a parasite that takes the form of her hair and has an incredible amount of raw power. With his help in combat, she's able to take down enemies with her hair, turning it into various blades and powerful forms, making her a versatile and very capable fighter. Shes a very friendly person, a foil to the rude and foulmouthed Samson, though she's not afraid to battle with anyone she deems suspicious or ill-intentioned.
